Vimala Phongsavanh
Vimala currently serves as the Organizing Director for the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center and the Progressive Caucus Action Fund where she works to bring together community leaders, organizers, advocates, unions and policy experts to build a more just, equitable, and resilient nation. She got her start as a youth organizer in Chinatown Boston, and as a community organizer in the Southeast Asian community of Rhode Island advocating for democracy reform and data disaggregation. Vimala was an elected school committee member in her hometown of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, where she proudly served as the committee’s chairwoman. She currently serves as the Board Chair of the Laotian American National Alliance (LANA), and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Providence College and her Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Rhode Island.
