Theresa Agonia was born and raised in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Growing up as a dual citizen of the United States and Portugal, she grew up involved in opportunities to support Portuguese traditions. She considers her passions to be in public service, supporting women’s rights and being a voice for marginalized communities. She is a board member of Providence Performing Arts Center, co-founder and board member of Central Falls Alumni Association and Vice-President of Roger Williams University Alumni Association. She currently serves as Chief of External Affairs for Mayor Jorge Elorza in the Capital City of Providence, Rhode Island, where she manages the communications, community relations, constituent services and executive office departments. Additionally, she manages community engagement strategies and the City’s engagement with the United States Conference of Mayors portfolio.
