As a broadcast journalist, Margie has been telling stories for over 28 years as an award winning news reporter and anchor in the Providence and Boston news markets. Her “beat” changed in 2015 when she began covering the Rhode Island Legislature. She now serves as the Host of RI Capitol TV, enlightening viewers on legislation and policy that impacts their lives.
Margie is also the founder of IMAGE – Margie O’Brien, a communications consulting company teaching clients to find their voice and Be Heard! Through skills and strategies, she assists organizations and individuals with media prep, messaging and performance. As a certified Strengths Coach, Margie instructs participants on achieving group success through utilization of individual strengths.
Selected to emcee the 2019 RISE Event, Margie was honored to facilitate the annual gathering which inspires women to collaborate, network and rise!
Margie is a graduate of Leadership Rhode Island and proudly sits on the board of the LRI Women’s Network whose mission is to empower, support and inspire women to connect more concretely on professional, personal and policy interests, and to create meaningful and positive change in the community.
Margie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. Anselm College and her Master’s degree in Communications/Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College.
Margie lives in Barrington with her husband, Todd Reed, her children Camden, Cole and Delaney and Callie, their golden retriever.
