Kimberly Bright serves as the Chief of Staff to the RI Postsecondary Commissioner and as the Acting Executive Director of the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center. In her capacity as Chief of Staff, Kimberly has managed a variety of operations for the Commissioner, including communications and outreach, legislative affairs, academic affairs, finance, and Board relations. At the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, Kimberly oversees all operations of the facility, including all fiscal, administrative, communications, stakeholder management, and human resources functions. Prior to joining the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, Kimberly served as Chief of Staff to the Commissioner and Policy Director at the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. She had previously served as Director of Field Operations for Marriage Equality Rhode Island. Kimberly has also served on the staff of several Members of Congress and is a veteran of several electoral campaigns.
Kimberly holds a B.A. in psychology from the University in Rhode Island and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She is pursuing her Ph.D. in education in a joint program at Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island. Kimberly serves on several boards, including as the chair of the Inspiring Minds Board of Directors, and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Kimberly currently lives in Providence and enjoys spending time on the beach and with her puppy Lewis
