Jevonya was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 8, 1979. When she was three years old, her parents decided to move to Providence to give her and her older sibling what they deemed a better life. Jevonya grew up in South Providence where she attended Roger Williams Middle School and Classical High School.
At the young age of 5, Jevonya’s father taught her how to play Chess which showed her how to think strategically. Jevonya’s mother instilled in her the need to be self-sufficient and the value of entrepreneurship by owning her own home daycare where Jevonya worked for many years. Both of her parents inculcated in her a love for God and the Bible.
After high school, Jevonya attended the Talent Development (TD) program at the University of Rhode Island, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Jevonya later earned a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Phoenix.
At the age of 25, Jevonya became a foster parent to a six-week-old baby boy. Four years later, she welcomed a six-year-old and an eight-year-old sibling pair into her home. She has since adopted all three children. Jevonya’s sons are one of her greatest joys.
Jevonya embarked on her entrepreneurial journey in 2009, which led her to start Twisted Networking, a business networking organization. In less than five years, Twisted Networking has had attendees from fifteen US states, Canada, the UK, the island of Granada, Sweden, and Malaysia. Jevonya has been a guest speaker at several local business events and on various podcasts. She has also been invited to speak for the New Leaders Council (NLC) Rhode Island Chapter, the University of Rhode Island’s entrepreneurship series, and Classical High School’s 2021 commencement ceremony. Jevonya has been featured in Shop in RI magazine and the Smithfield Times.
In 2020, Jevonya became a certified business consultant through the International Association of Professions Career College. Jevonya’s clients range from individuals who have been thinking about starting a business to Classical High School’s Alumni Association. In May of 2021, Jevonya self-published her first book, “The Introvert’s Guide to Becoming a Master Networker” which is available on Amazon. Jevonya loves talking about entrepreneurship, personal development, business, marketing, religion, parenting, and networking. Jevonya currently lives between North Carolina and Rhode Island.
