Fabiola Powell received her Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology from Boston University in 1998. She established herself in the counseling field as a middle school and secondary school counselor in the public school system for 15 years. In 2012, Fabiola published her memoir, “Faith’s Legacy” in which she explores the role faith plays in the light of her child’s medical challenges. The publishing of Faith’s Legacy launched Fabiola’s pursuit of understanding the role of mental health and the impact of trauma on children and families. Fabiola’s commitment to Mental Health led her to pursue and obtain Advanced Graduate Coursework in Mental Health Counseling from Bridgewater State University. For the 8 years, Fabiola has worked as a community-based mental health clinician working with culturally diverse populations with a primary focus on child and adolescent mental health and family therapy. Her work also includes counseling women in recovery from substance use and alcohol use disorders. Fabiola currently provides consultation and behavioral health services to the Immigrant Family Services Institute, which is a non profit organization that support immigrant families and frontline workers. Fabiola’s vast experience and extensive work in the community has established her as a reputable mental health and human services professional whose knowledge, expertise and advocacy are sought widely. Fabiola works from a strength-based and holistic approach drawing from a variety of treatment modalities and trauma informed practices. Her knowledge and training is supported by the Massachusetts Mental Health Association of which she is an active member. She is bilingual in French and Haitian-Creole. Fabiola resides in the town of Natick with her husband and two children.
