Associate Dean of Student Diversity, Inclusion and Success, Tufts University
Dr. Ellise LaMotte, the Associate Dean of Student Diversity, Inclusion and Success, leads the Division of Student Diversity and Inclusion for the Schools of Arts & Sciences and Engineering. The Division includes eight centers: Africana Center, Asian American Center, Center for STEM Diversity, FIRST Resource Center, Indigenous Center, Latino Center, LGBT Center, and the Women’s Center. Both individually and collectively, the Centers seek to promote understanding, community, and belonging across the Tufts communities in concert with others on campus. Dr. LaMotte also works on issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity across a student’s Tufts experience, from matriculation to graduation. Additionally, she works collaboratively to operationalize the Tufts anti-racism goals as well as the School of Arts and Sciences’ and School of Engineering’s diversity and inclusion strategic goals. Dr. LaMotte holds a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology and a Master’s degree, both from Northeastern University and a Doctorate degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She is happily married with a daughter, who she is extremely proud of. She enjoys fitness activities, being in nature and near the ocean, eating good food, photography, and spending time with people she cares about.
