Catherine Velez is an empowering leader and Senior Bilingual Banking Executive with 30 years of experience in driving positive and impactful business results. Cathy has a proven track record in developing, problem solving, and executing programs in banking sales and consumer confidence. She consistently excels, and is unafraid of taking on new responsibilities and industry arenas.
As a strategic implementer, Cathy has a keen ability to put her personal winning touch on overarching visions, embrace challenges, and analyze complex business issues – all while devising innovative procedures to bring a plan to life. Time and again, she’s demonstrated her adaptability in the ever-changing banking industry, especially in crisis situations where utilizing technology and being able to pivot on a dime have come in handy. (I.E., Think COVID). Throughout her career, Cathy has valued learning from others. She’s known as an empathetic manager who leads from a place of honesty and transparency. She’s willing and able to step back and allow others to shine; all the while taking pride in her mentorship and bringing others through the door.
Cathy has served in numerous roles with increasing responsibility at Webster Bank, a leading commercial bank with more than $65 billion in assets. She is currently Senior Vice President, Director Banking Center Sales and Service. In this role, she’s successfully improved team performance and brand; served as business owner for new digital account opening, where she streamlined the process and rebuilt it from scratch; and managed the Customer Experience Program – significantly improving the Top Box score.
Cathy’s successful career is defined by hard work, ingenuity, and personal growth. She started out as a teller and went on to grow her career at Webster by taking on new opportunities and challenges both within the organization and in the community. Speaking of the community, she has served on a number of boards of non-profit organizations. She’s the recipient of the John S. Martinez Community Service Award for her work with Columbus House, which has been providing solutions to homelessness since 1982. She’s also been applauded for her work at the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce for creating a diverse and inclusive atmosphere to facilitate long-term economic growth. Her most recent achievement is the 2021 CEO Corner Award for excellence in opening the Digital Account Program.
Cathy resides in North Branford, Connecticut with her husband and two daughters.
