Veronica Dawson (she/her/ella) is a sophomore attending St. Andrew’s School in Barrington. She has been an active member of the school community since joining in the 6th grade. Ms. Dawson is currently a student government class representative, ambassador, student mentor, and supports DEI activity. In addition to her commitment to academics and campus engagement, she is also a competitively ranked basketball player. A proud student scholar, she currently plays on the St. Andrew’s Girls’ Prep Team and a Rhode Island based AAU travel team. As a young woman of color, Veronica has already been faced with being the “only” in the room; or as a female athlete, her involvement in the sport not being taken as seriously. However, these experiences are reminders of the privilege she does hold and of how she should continue to activate her voice in spaces and places that she’s in. Veronica lives in Pawtucket with her parents, grandparents, and dog- King.
