Hilary Levey Friedman is a sociologist who teaches in the Department of Education at Brown University. She is the author of Here She Is: The Complicated Reign of the Beauty Pageant in America and Playing to Win: Raising Children in a Competitive Culture. Hilary serves as President of the Rhode Island chapter of the National Organization for Women as well. But perhaps her greatest role is as mom to two sons, ages eight and six.
