Director of the Rhode Island Division of Elderly Affairs
Rose Amoros Jones was appointed Director of the Rhode Island Division of Elderly Affairs (DEA) in February 2019 by Governor Gina M. Raimondo. Previously, she led the Division of Policy and Public Affairs for the state’s Executive Office of Health & Human Services, where she helped shaped the Governor’s policy agenda for older Rhode Islanders and those with disabilities.
Director Jones also led the Governor’s Let’s Talk Mental Health initiative, under Executive Order 18-03, to erase the stigma around mental illness and addiction, encourage open dialogue, and connect people in need with tr eatment. Under her leadership, DEA continues to be engaged in the State’s broader work to improve Rhode Island’s behavioral healthcare system.
With more than 20 years of experience in policy development and public relations, Director Jones has served in key leadership roles in both the Raimondo and Chaffee administrations.Throughout her professional career, her work has touched upon themes of significant importance to older adults–including transportation, food security, and healthcare access.
Director Jones has emerged as a trusted advocate for Rhode Island’s seniors and adults with disabilities and has continued to advance sound policies that promote independence, quality of life
, and healthy aging.
Director Jones graduated Summa Cum Laude from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science degree inorganizational communications. She minored in leadership and ethics and graduated from Leadership Rhode Island, Epsilon II, in 2009. She earned an MBA, concentrating in international relations and social justice, from Salve Regina University in 2010.
A Rhode Island native, Director Jones grew up between the West End and South Side of Providence. She now lives with her husband and four children in North Providence.
